My First Week on Mounjaro

Well… I Guess I Was Prepared for It.

This all started when I went to the hospital for an injection in my lower back.

While I was sitting in the waiting room, I noticed a flyer for the hospital’s weight management clinic.

I’d been told before,

“Losing weight will reduce the strain on your back and knees.”

So I decided it was finally time to do something about it and made an appointment.

They ordered blood tests, a urine test, and measured my height and weight.

The plan was to review the results and decide on the best treatment.

🏥 An Unexpected Diagnosis

A week later, I went back for my results.

The doctor looked at my blood work and said,

“You have diabetes. Let’s start treatment today.”

That one sentence hit me hard.

Honestly,

I was shocked.

I’d always thought diabetes was mostly hereditary.

I never imagined I’d be the one hearing those words.

Then came another surprise.

“About half of your body is body fat.”

Well…

I guess he wasn’t wrong.

But hearing it out loud was still a little painful. 😂

🍚 Meeting with the Dietitian

After that, I met with a dietitian.

She asked about my eating habits.

When I told her,

“Sometimes I eat four meals a day,”

she smiled and said,

“Simply improving that habit alone could make a big difference.”

She was right.

I’d known it for a long time.

But somehow hearing it from a professional made me want to take it more seriously.

💉 Starting Mounjaro

My treatment began with a weekly injection called Mounjaro.

It’s a medication that you inject into your abdomen once a week.

The doctor warned me that nausea and stomach discomfort were common side effects.

That evening,

I gave myself my first injection.

At first,

I felt completely fine.

I even ate dinner without any problems,

just a slightly smaller portion than usual.

I remember thinking,

“Maybe this won’t be so bad.”

🤢 I Was Wrong

Later that night,

everything changed.

The nausea hit me all at once.

Every time I lay down,

I felt like I was going to throw up.

My stomach wouldn’t settle.

I barely slept that night.

Even the next morning,

the nausea was still there.

Despite taking my sleeping medication,

I couldn’t sleep.

I felt weak,

exhausted,

and miserable.

🥄 I Couldn’t Eat

The next day,

I had almost no appetite.

The only thing I could manage was some yogurt.

I drank a little protein shake too,

but that was about it.

A proper meal wasn’t happening.

During the day,

I felt sleepy all the time.

But once night came…

I couldn’t sleep.

It was a very strange feeling.

😴 Sleepy All Day, Awake All Night

During the daytime,

I felt like I could fall asleep at any moment.

But as soon as bedtime arrived,

the sleepiness disappeared.

The moment I reached for my sleeping medication,

my brain suddenly woke up.

I couldn’t help laughing and thinking,

“Seriously?

I’m trying to go to sleep!”

😂

Of course,

the next morning was even worse.

Getting out of bed felt like climbing a mountain.

🌧 I Just Want to Go Back to Work

The hardest part lately

has been not being able to work.

I’m doing my best to recover,

yet I still feel guilty.

I want to work.

I want my normal life back.

The more I think about it,

the more impatient I become.

🌱 Time to Rebuild

Diabetes.

Obesity.

Lack of sleep.

Problems with my back and knees.

The list feels long.

But now that I know what’s wrong,

I can finally start treating it.

That’s how I have to look at it.

Right now,

my goal is simply to get healthy again.

I want to regain my strength,

return to work,

and finally break out of this cycle.

A new diagnosis wasn’t something I wanted to hear.

It was painful.

But this is where I begin rebuilding, one step at a time.

See you next time.

Before I take my Silece.

Bye for now. 🌙💉
