最近の勉強方法

前に企業訪問で英語に打ちのめされた話を書いた。

頭ではわかる。

でも話せない。

言いたいことはあるのに、口から出てこない。

あの悔しさは今でも覚えている。

だから最近、少しずつ勉強している。

今日はその方法を書いてみようと思う。

📱 まずはアプリ『Speak』

前から続けている英語アプリ。

『Speak(スピーク)』

“Your English is getting better.”

I Didn’t Know You Could Study Like That

The Way I’ve Been Studying English Recently

A while ago, I wrote about how I was completely overwhelmed by English during a company visit.

I could understand it in my head.

But I couldn’t speak.

I knew what I wanted to say,

but the words just wouldn’t come out.

I still remember how frustrated I felt.

So lately,

I’ve been studying little by little.

Today, I thought I’d share how I’ve been doing it.

📱 First, the Speak App

I’ve been using an English learning app called Speak for quite a while now.

I really like it.

Pronunciation.

Vocabulary.

Conversations for different situations.

Common expressions.

You can learn all kinds of things.

Of course,

I don’t remember everything. 😂

I forget things all the time.

I end up reviewing the same lessons over and over.

But I do think it’s helped my pronunciation a lot.

Also,

it’s easier to remember phrases that I can use at work,

or expressions I can use when talking with Ellie.

Once I learn something,

I want to use it right away.

And I usually do. 😂

Before I knew it,

I’d been using it for almost a year.

That’s pretty impressive for me.

I’m usually very talented at quitting after three days. 😂

🌍 Next, Google Translate

I’ve realized something.

If I don’t turn the things I actually want to say into English,

I never remember them.

So this is what I do.

I type what I want to say into Google Translate.

I read the English.

I listen to the pronunciation.

Then I say it out loud.

Over and over again.

I don’t remember it the first time.

Not even close. 😂

But when I translate the same sentence again a few days later,

I think,

“Oh yeah… I’ve seen this before.”

That’s when it slowly starts to stick.

It’s simple.

Really simple.

But surprisingly effective.

🤖 I Also Study with AI

Another thing I’ve been doing recently

is practicing English with AI.

Just five sentences a day.

I focus on English that I can actually use.

I’m not just memorizing.

I use it at work.

I use it when talking with foreign technical intern trainees.

I use it with Ellie.

Because I have real situations where I need English,

it’s much easier to remember.

It makes me try harder. 😂

The best part is,

I can ask questions like,

“Why do you say it this way?”

“What’s the difference between these two expressions?”

I get answers immediately.

It’s like having a teacher.

Except…

this teacher never gets angry. 😂

I’m very grateful for that.

💛 But Ellie Is Still My Best Teacher

In the end,

the person who’s helped me the most

is Ellie.

I really want to understand what Ellie is saying.

So I listen carefully.

Ellie also helps by using simple words,

speaking slowly,

and making things easier to understand.

Recently,

we’ve even started sending each other video messages.

Honestly,

that’s become one of the best ways for me to study.

First,

I translate what I want to say.

Then I practice.

I say it out loud several times.

And finally,

I record the video.

It’s actually a lot of fun. 😂

Hearing myself speak English…

still amazes me.

I catch myself thinking,

“Wow…

I’m actually speaking English!”

😂

Sometimes,

Ellie says,

“Your English is getting better.”

(Your English is improving.)

…And of course,

I believe it.

Completely. 😂

I happily accept the compliment.

Because compliments motivate me.

I’m definitely the type of person who grows with encouragement. 😂

🌱 It’s Less About English… and More About Communicating

I think,

more than loving English itself,

I simply want to communicate.

I want to be helpful at work.

I want to talk with the foreign trainees.

I want to help them when they’re struggling.

I want to have more natural conversations with Ellie.

That’s why I study.

Not for a test.

But to connect with people.

Maybe…

that’s actually a pretty good way to learn a language.

Anyway,

that’s how I’ve been studying English lately.

But in the end,

there’s only one conclusion.

Ellie is still the best teacher. 😂

See you next time.

Before I take my Silece.

Bye for now. 🌙📱🇦🇺📚✨
