I Can’t Sleep. Why?

Is It Back Again?

Recently, I haven’t been sleeping well.

Normally, I take my medication and naturally become sleepy.

Before I know it, I’m asleep.

That used to be normal.

But not lately.

Now I can’t sleep.

⸻

It’s not that I stay awake all night.

I do sleep eventually.

But after taking my medicine…

Two hours pass.

Three hours pass.

And I’m still awake.

Usually, I’m asleep almost as soon as I get into bed.

Now I just lie there.

Waiting.

⸻

That time…

The time spent in bed unable to sleep…

That’s what hurts the most.

I close my eyes.

Try again.

Check the clock.

Still awake.

Close my eyes again.

Check again.

Still awake.

⸻

Eventually my whole head fills with one thought:

“I have to sleep.”

And morning comes.

Of course I feel awful.

My head feels heavy.

My body won’t move.

I know I have to go to work.

I understand that.

But I still can’t move.

⸻

The strange thing is…

My mood isn’t low.

I don’t think it’s depression.

Actually, I think my mood is okay.

I’m just frustrated.

Frustrated because I can’t sleep.

That’s all.

⸻

🩺 I Went To The Doctor Early

This time I went to the clinic earlier than usual.

Because not being able to work was painful.

At work they told me:

“If you’re not feeling well, it’s okay to rest.”

I’m grateful.

Really grateful.

But I blame myself.

And honestly…

I’m scared of losing income too.

⸻

The doctor asked:

“How have you been?”

I answered:

“I’m not exactly struggling. I just can’t go to work. I can’t sleep.”

He said:

“Maybe your hypomania came down and now you’re feeling the drop. It doesn’t feel like depression.”

I told him again:

“My mood is okay. Not sleeping is what’s hard.”

⸻

Then he said:

“Let’s add something to help you sleep.”

Part of me felt relieved.

Another part thought:

“More medication again…”

But still…

Not sleeping felt worse.

I thought:

“Okay. This will help.”

I believed that.

⸻

🌙 But I Still Couldn’t Sleep

That night I took the medicine.

Got into bed.

Waited.

⸻

Nothing.

Still awake.

⸻

It felt wrong.

I should have fallen asleep quickly.

Instead, my mind repeated:

“I can’t sleep.”

“I can’t sleep.”

“I can’t sleep.”

Like a spell.

Two hours.

Three hours.

I think I finally slept.

Maybe.

⸻

Morning was hard again.

I still got up for work.

I tried not to nap during the day.

My head felt foggy.

Slow.

Heavy.

⸻

And then…

The next night.

Still couldn’t sleep.

The night after that.

Same thing.

⸻

By day three I forced myself to go to work.

But I kept drifting.

Almost falling asleep.

Nothing stayed in my head.

People were teaching me things and the words just passed by.

⸻

🌧 I Don’t Know What To Do

I’m wondering if I should go back to the clinic.

Or wait.

I don’t know.

Adjusting sleep medication is difficult.

What if they change it again?

What if the side effects become stronger?

What if I can’t work?

That scares me.

But this foggy feeling isn’t easy either.

Learning while feeling like this is hard.

My brain just won’t hold information.

⸻

Tomorrow I already have another hospital appointment.

I took the day off.

So maybe…

I’ll go to the mental health clinic too.

Maybe talking alone will help.

Maybe hearing:

“It’s okay”

will help me breathe.

⸻

🌙 I Just Want To Sleep

Right now…

I don’t want money.

I don’t want movies.

I don’t even want blog ideas.

I only want one thing.

A night of deep sleep.

That’s all.

⸻

Lately I’ve realized something.

Sleeping isn’t automatic.

Sleeping.

Waking up.

Working.

Those ordinary things are actually amazing.

⸻

So for now:

Don’t rush.

Don’t force it.

Don’t carry everything alone.

⸻

I hope sleep comes back soon.

Quietly.

Naturally.

Like it used to.

⸻

See you again.

Before Silece.

Bye bye. 🌙💊🛏️✨
